We would like to congratulate HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme, who won the Best Benefit Statement (large scheme) category, and HMV, who walked off with the winner’s award in the Best Scheme Booklet (small scheme) category, at this year’s Pension and Investment UK Scheme Communications Awards. HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme were also commended in the Best Newsletter (large scheme) category along with Amey for their Best Benefit Statement (small scheme) entry.
Run by the FT and Pensions Week, the Investment UK Scheme Communications Awards recognises the crucial role of communications in the efficient running of occupational pension schemes.
Explaining why HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme had won ahead of very stiff competition celebrity presenter and pensions guru, Steve Bee, explained: “There was a commendation for Tesco PLC Pension Scheme in this category for strong use of colour and imagery in their statement. But the winner was picked for the successful way it broached and tackled retirement planning in its statement’s 3-step plan and not least for also being a vibrant and empowering statement. ”
He later described the HMV entry as: “Bright, well summarised, good use of photography; this is what the judges liked best when picking out HMV Group Pension Scheme as the winner of small booklet of the year.”
When announcing Amey’s commendation Steve joked “that he could see from the submission that while the statements used to be black and white but never read, it was now clear that members were actually reading them and had a better understanding of their benefits.”
Ferrier Pearce has been working with all three pension schemes to support their ongoing employee engagement activities and designed the communications material judged in the awards. We are delighted to see their member communication initiatives being recognised by such prestigious industry awards.
