Ferrier Pearce supports Peruvian CarbonNeutral hydro power plant

As part of Ferrier Pearce’s continuing commitment to control climate change and our CarbonNeutral Company activities in 2010, we will be supporting the Callahuanca Hydro Efficiency Project.

This project improves the operating efficiency of a hydro power plant located alongside the Santa Eulalia River in the western foothills of the Peruvian Andes. The installation of new turbines and generators at the Callahuanca plant will increase capacity by 7.5 MW and maximise productivity by using the current available water flow, thus avoiding the construction of a dam which would impact other areas of the environment.

The additional clean electricity that this project is generating displaces electricity from Peru’s National Electricity Grid that would otherwise have been produced by fossil-fuel power stations.
